Wiliam Davidson, Ph.D.
William Davidson, Ph.D. has been Chairman of the Board and a director since March 2006. Since 1984, Dr. Davidson has been President of MESA Research, a management consulting firm which he founded. From 1985 to 1998, he served as a tenured Professor of Management at the Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California. Dr. Davidson held leadership responsibilities in Deloitte & Touche LLP's telecom and media management consulting practice from 1996 to 1998. Dr. Davidson earned an A.B. in Economics, a Masters in Business Administration Degree and a Doctorate Degree in Business Administration, all from Harvard University.
Rodney M. Tiede
As President and CEO of Broadcast International, Rod Tiede is responsible for fostering the vision, directing the overall management and providing progressive leadership for the company. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Washington, Rod gained invaluable retail technological experience with Safeway Corporate offices. While at Safeway he was responsible for launching the Safeway Satellite Network. Since 1988, Rod has been instrumental in directing the worldwide reach of Broadcast International during its early years. Through his innovation and tenacious management style, Rod has insured BI's growth as its Director of Sales, Vice President and General Manager, and now as President and CEO. Rod's continued forward-looking strategy has made BI a preferred international technology integrator.
James E. Solomon
James E. Solomon has been a director since September 2005. From 1995 to January 2002, Mr. Solomon was a business consultant primarily for emerging growth companies. In January 2002, he formed Corporate Development Services, Inc., a business consulting firm, and has served as President since its formation. From June 1993 to the present, Mr. Solomon has been an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Business at the University of Utah. Mr. Solomon serves on the Board of Directors of Nevada Chemicals, Inc., a public company, as well as several privately-held companies. Mr. Solomon received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from the University of Utah in 1972. Mr. Solomon became a certified public accountant in 1974.
Kirby D. Cochran
Kirby D. Cochran has been a director since February 2006. For the past five years, Mr. Cochran has been an angel investor and business consultant, assisting growth stage companies with their strategy and operations. From May 1999 to May 2005, he taught graduate school as an adjunct professor in the Business and Finance Departments at the University of Utah. Mr. Cochran holds a Masters in Business Administration Degree from North Dakota State University.
Richard Benowitz
Richard Benowitz joined the BI board in June 2007. He has served as managing director of Culver Studios in Culver City, California since June 2006. In addition, he has been engaged in private real estate development as an independent consultant since December 2000.
Bill Boyd
Bill Boyd joined the BI board in October 2007. Mr. Boyd is currently Chairman of Agility Recovery Solutions and also serves on the boards of Pyramid Radio, Sterling Testing Systems, ScentAir, Ironwood Equity Partners (board of advisors), Ben Craig Center, and Thompson Child & Family Focus. In 2001, Mr. Boyd retired as CEO of Muzak where he had previously served in various capacities since 1968. Prior to Muzak, Mr. Boyd worked for Proctor & Gamble and AT&T. Boyd earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science in 1963 from Beloit College in Wisconsin.
